Fat Grafting

What is a fat transfer procedure?

A fat transfer operation, also known as fat grafting, involves injecting fat into areas that may be missing volume, such as your face, hands, breasts, and buttocks, from areas where you have surplus fat, such as the outer thighs, stomach, or hips. Each year, thousands of people successfully undergo fat grafting and are pleased with the realistic outcomes.

The benefits of a fat transfer technique ...
Adding or filling in volume-deficient parts of your body is the goal of fat grafting. Fat transfer may be an option for you if you have places that you'd like to add volume to and enough donor sites from which fat can be extracted.

Some advantages of fat transfer methods are listed below:

Distribute extra fat.
Refresh your face, lips, and hands.
Correct any skin blemishes (following liposuction and scarring)
Boost the size of your breasts
Boost the size of your buttocks
Retouch contour flaws or cover up noticeable breast implant signals (for breast reconstruction)
Utilize body fat to lower your risk of allergic reactions to outside substances (as opposed to dermal fillers)
Get more lasting, natural effects (compared to temporary fillers)
Boost your confidence and self-image.

What matters should I think about before having a fat transfer procedure?
To learn more about what makes you special, speak with your cosmetic plastic surgeon.

You must be in good general health.
You cannot smoke. Smoking delays recovery and raises the possibility of complications both during and after surgery.
You should not experience any circulation issues.
Dermal fillers are a less expensive alternative to fat transfer, which lasts longer.
To obtain your ideal breast or buttock size for augmentation, you might need several fat transfer sessions.
Depending on how much fat is suctioned and how many sites are used, your recovery period will vary.

How long does the healing process following a fat transfer treatment take?
When you can resume your normal level of activity and employment, your surgeon will inform you. As part of the full instructions for your postoperative care that your surgeon will provide to you and your caregiver:

Drains, assuming they have been installed Symptoms you might encounter
Potential complications' symptoms
You must carefully follow any advice your surgeon gives you on patient care. It's also critical to understand that everyone's healing period is highly different from one another.

View locations for short-term recovery in the aftercare and recovery categories.

What can I anticipate while I recuperate from my fat transfer?
The amount of fat that is removed and the number of liposuction incision sites will affect how long it takes for you to recuperate. For instance, your recuperation period will probably be shorter after a fat transfer to your face than it will be after a fat graft to enlarge your breasts or buttocks.

You can have some pain once the anaesthetic wears off.
To keep your skin compressed, you probably need to wear compression clothing. You'll be instructed by your surgeon on how long to wear them, typically for weeks. Some doctors will give you these clothes, while others will advise you where to buy them ahead of time.

Your wounds could leak or continue to drain for a few days. Your surgeon may occasionally place a drainage tube to remove fluid from the wound. You (or a caregiver) should feel comfortable emptying and resetting the drains before departing for home.
Your bruising and swelling will be severe the first week, and you won't be able to interact socially or professionally.

The bruising goes away in the second week, but you'll still have edema. The seventh through tenth days are probably when you'll start to feel the best, but you might still not be ready to leave the house. Plan your surgery to accommodate two full weekends for recovery if you can only miss one week of work. Try to take at least two weeks off if you can.
You'll start to look more like yourself by the third week. You can carefully use makeup to cover up any lingering indications of swelling or bruises if you received facial face injections.
You will be able to see the benefits as the swelling goes down, however minute swelling may last for weeks.
